The Container Gardening Workshops returns this season!

As you may know, last year I did not offer a container gardening (patio pots) workshop due to “bucket list” travel – but this year – it is ON for May 2019. We will be holding this popular workshop on 3 dates (see below).

The theme is “Succulent Hanging Baskets”

I was so impressed last season with hanging baskets I created with a various mix of succulents that I just had to offer it as a theme this season. They were absolutely gorgeous, trouble free, and very easy care. These are the type of hanging baskets you may leave for weeks without watering while on vacation – and they last till fall. Then you may keep the plants going over the winter inside your home.

What you will create

You will make a gorgeous and very long lasting, drought-tolerant hanging basket with a mix of varied succulents, and learn how to keep the plants going way beyond the summer months. In fact, for a monthly fee, you may opt to keep your hanger in my greenhouse over the winter and refresh it the following spring, or just keep the baskets in your home over the winter months.

The focus of this workshop is on making a hanging basket which is easy to care for while also stunningly textural in form, while learning all about the plants themselves.

Additionally, succulents do bloom! Many people don’t realize this – they bloom once a year and the flowers, shaped like elegant small funnels on very tall stems, attract hummingbirds. Let me tell you, I just loved witnessing the hummingbirds popping by my succulent hanging baskets last year.

And finally, the plants increase in size over the summer!

Included:

Each attendee will receive a set mix of succulents of 2″ sizes and a 3″ spiller type succulent to drip over the edge or a featured larger succulent to complete their arrangement. A 10″ diameter wire hanging basket (dark green in a crisscross pattern held by a silver chain or other types) lined with light brown coco coir. The wire is very sturdy and the depth is 6″ which is perfect for succulents’ root systems. Soil media perfect for drought-tolerant plants with slow-release fertilizer is included as well, along with the workshop class information on propagation, watering care, and insect control, etc. Our workshops are designed for plant education and having fun creating.

Other Options:

If desired, you may bring other small patio pots (or a bird cage) of your own to pot up in addition to the hanging basket. Additional succulents will be available for purchase along with soil and gravel dressing for the top for any containers you bring on your own. We like to offer flexibility and plants are new from our local grower.
